All :)
Well, the CyberStorm has been giving me trouble, as LW crashed during
rendering (You know the routine... Start rendering 333 frames, wait five
frames - everything ok, go home, come in the morning - LW CRASHED, ERROR
#80000004, 20 frames completed.. :( ).
It seems there was a bug in the memory handling of the first bunch of
boards. I'll get a replacement next week, in the meantime... VMM2 to the
rescue.
Never the less, I still feel it's a good buy.
And now, something completely different:
The new 'Alphabetize list' button in the surfaces panel is nice, but...
When it is on and I press 'SHIFT-ARROW UP/DOWN', it jumps to the surface
which is first or last according to the unalphabetized (sp?) list. Example:
I have four surfaces: Default
Alarm_Clock
Camera
Bird
'Alphabetize List' ON: Alarm_Clock
Bird
Camera
Default
When I press 'SHIFT-ARROW UP', I get the Default surface.
When I press 'SHIFT-ARROW DOWN', I get the Bird surface.
...... Complaints over.......Time for a tip...........
I modeled a city landscape from a distance (remember E.T.?), using a
brush of small yellow squares ona brown background as a color and
luminance mapping. I render at 320*200. Individual frames turn out ok,
but when I animate the yellow 'windows' on the buildings show frame in
frame out and flicker terribly. I scaled the brush size to the max, but
it still flickered. The dead line was coming soon, and it wasn't
acceptable at all...
I entered Modeler and imported the cubes. I used the 'Random Surface
Points' macro to cover the cubes with points, and 'Points to Polys' macro
to convert these to one-point polygons. Back to Layout, the points got a
nice white-yellow color, and each and every one of them rendered fully as
a particle (I hope, tommorow I'll see it).
Enjoy LightWave, at least as much as I do!
